Ft Worth Cyclocross

After several months of being too busy for anything other than work, I finally had a chance to get out last weekend. Having never seen a cyclocross event in person, I headed to Ft Worth for the local races. It was pretty cold, but there were all ages out riding in the rain, having a blast. Kinda makes me want to go play in the mud!

We are all homeless.

Photo Workshop

This weekend I was one of the instructors at a photo workshop by I ♥ Faces. It's a popular blog started by Amy Locurto, a graphic designer I've worked with for years. Twenty moms from around the country plus one lady from Germany, all came to Dallas to improve their photo skills. We ended with a photo walk around the West End and made this group shot. Such a great class, I really love their passion!

While in Deep Elm, I got a chance to meet Bob. He played a few tunes and tagged along for a while. A documentary film about this gentle soul has been produced and recently submitted to Sundance. Be sure to check out his story here.

I spent a few hours yesterday walking around with some friends in Deep Elm. I was really surprised how quiet it was. Mostly empty storefronts. The places that are open seem to be busy and people we talked with felt like the area is improving. Here are two of the interesting folks I photographed.

My recent trip to New Mexico was a welcome break from the Texas summer heat. Once I almost felt chilly...

The Santa Fe Workshops are a great way to spend a few days with other photographers; shooting things you might not otherwise shoot. I had the chance to make portraits of Chris Buck, a quirky editorial shooter, and also National Geographic's
Chris Rainier, who's work captures the spirit of endangered tribal cultures.

Eat chicken fried steak, spray paint a Cadillac and spend the night in Tucumcari. Gotta love a roadtrip!

One of my favorite places to eat, Big Shucks, knows that I'm a "photo guy." So they asked me about taking a picture on their patio; said they make it "worth my while." Hey, I'm always up for a challenge.

Going thru all the boxes before the garbage man came, I found one of Paul Jerde's cards from our Lost Tribes adventures.
Plus there were lots of printed samples that Paul and I had worked on together.

I took everything over to his place and had him pose. Of course then Buzz wanted to pose too.

We wandered about and documented what we considered, Lost Tribes.

Paul's card said WORDS. Most people didn't understand.
